Present Reality

Present Reality

Every day, thousands of mothers and children in Sub-Saharan Africa face the harsh and heartbreaking reality of preventable death.

💔 MATERNAL AND NEWBORN DEATHS -A SILENT CRISIS

According to the latest WHO and UN estimates (2023):

* 178,000 mothers die each year from pregnancy and childbirth complications — most of which are entirely preventable. These include hemorrhage, high blood pressure, infections, unsafe abortion, and obstructed labor.

* Nearly 1,000,000 newborns die every year  often due to preterm birth, sepsis, birth trauma, or congenital anomalies.

Despite some progress — with maternal mortality dropping from 727 to 442 deaths per 100,000 live births between 2000 and 2023 — Sub-Saharan Africa still bears the brunt, accounting for:

  • 70% of global maternal deaths, and
  • 46% of global newborn deaths.

These are not just numbers. These are mothers who won’t return home. These are babies who never got the chance to live.

👶 AFRICA’S UNDER -5 CHILD MORTALITU – A GENERATIONAL RISK.

Each year, about 5 million children under the age of 5 die globally — and a staggering 80% of those deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa.

UNICEF data reveals that 1 in every 14 children in this region dies before their fifth birthday — a mortality rate of nearly 7%. That means millions of children across Africa never get to celebrate their first day of school, never get to run, laugh, or dream.

🚨THE STRUGGLE FOR ACCES

In the communities we serve, the nearest hospital is often 50 to 80 kilometers away. There are no formal transport systems, no ambulances, and no way to get urgent care in time. If a mother starts bleeding during childbirth, or a child develops a fever at night, help may simply be too far to reach in time.

THIS IS THE PAINFUL TRUTH.

We see families walking for hours — sometimes for days — with sick children in their arms, hoping for a miracle.

We see too many graves where there should be laughter.

❤ YOUR LOVE CAN BRING HOPE

These families are not hopeless   they are simply unheard. Their pain is deep, but so is their strength. And what they need most is your love, your compassion, your action.

With your help, we can build solutions  clinics closer to home, transportation options, trained birth attendants, emergency care, and a safety net of love that tells every mother, every child:

“You matter. You are not alone.”

Together, we can change this reality not just for one child, but for generations to come.

Be the reason a mother lives. Be the reason a child survives. Let your love bring hope.
